Letters: Harbor should stop flyingtattered, worn American flag

December 01, 2008 11:00 pm

Is the harbor of Crescent City under attack? I drive by daily and see a tattered and torn flag flying. I know Francis Scott Key saw a tattered and torn flag flying and it caused him to write a song that became our "National Anthem."

The harbor and others who fly the flag should see that no tattered and torn flags are flown. Flags are flown to show honor to our country and the flying of flags that are tattered and torn show disrespect to the country. If your flags become tattered and torn, don't fly them until you are able to fly the proper flag with no torn ends.
