Letters: Something is wrong with state's health care system

What is wrong with California's health care system?

I've been disabled since 1995. I have arthritis, a heart condition, diabetes, etc. I had a good program with a local medical clinic. Medi-Cal dropped its payments 10 percent and the clinic dropped all of us Medi-Cal patients — no lab work, no treatments, no prescriptions, no visits, no doctors — nothing.

If I were in prison in California, I could have any medical treatment, including organ transplants. In 1995 it cost $2,400 to treat a prisoner; in 2008 it cost $14,000. And I can't get cholesterol pills.
