Obituaries: James Patrick Jamison1936-2008

James Patrick Jamison passed away Sept 14, 2008, from cancer.

Jim was born on March 17, 1936, in Sacramento. His family moved to Fort Dick, where Jim attended the one-room schoolhouse on Lake Earl. He lived in Del Norte county until August 11, 1954, when Jim enlisted in the Army to fight in the Korean War.

Jim received the good conduct medal and honorable discharge. On May 13, 1959 Jim joined Glaziers Local Union 169, where he became the apprenticeship coordinator. During this time he earned a life time teaching certificate. Jim fought for and ensured the education and rights of the working man. Jim retired from the union and moved back to Del Norte County to pursue his dream of a fisherman. Jim was an active member of the V.F.W. Post 138 Crescent City. He was also a 3rd-degree Mason.

Jim loved the challenge of restoring old cars, engines, and H. D. motorcycles.

He is survived by his wife Anthoinette Jamison, daughter Elaine Jamison, step-daughters Satyn Fox and Skyla Reiner.

The celebration of Jim's life will be Saturday at the VFW Hall, 810 H St., Crescent City, from 4 to 6 p.m.
