The College of the Redwoods recently appointed Carol Mathews as the interim campus vice president for the Del Norte campus.

Mathews, who has worked as a counselor at the campus since 1987, will serve in the position through the academic year, which ends on June 30.

CR will conduct a search for a permanent campus administrator during the rest of spring semester.

The campus had been led by an interim campus vice president, Ray Geary, for the past year and a half. Geary left CR in January for a dean position at a college in upstate New York.

This is the third time in her 30-year career at CR Del Norte that Mathews has been appointed as the campus administrator. Mathews served as the campus vice president from June 2002 to July 2003. She was also appointed the acting dean from May 1990 to June 1991.

Prior to being hired as a full-time academic counselor at CR Del Norte, Mathews taught part-time sociology, social work, cultural anthropology and study skills starting in 1978. She also served as a disabled students advisor from 1979 through June 1981.
