Bobby Eugene Reeves died on Jan. 11, 2008, in Crescent City following a long illness. He was 76.

Bob was born Dec. 3, 1931, in Rus-sellville, Ark., to William and Janie (Davis) Reeves. As a young man, he moved with his family to Lindsay, where he met Polly Liles and married her on March 7, 1953.

He was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1954 and served in Germany and France. While in the service, he became a vehicle mechanic. Following his honorable discharge in 1956, he worked as a truck and auto mechanic in Modesto.

In 1972, the family relocated to Crescent City. Bob worked on school buses for Del Norte School District as well as for several local trucking firms before retiring in 1981.

He enjoyed walking in the woods, camping, hunting, fishing, and attending horse races. In retirement, the Reeves enjoyed traveling in their RV.

He also shared a love of horses with his daughters and his granddaughter, Ali. Family was important to him, and he enjoyed being a grandfather and great-grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Polly, of Crescent City, four children, William "Bill" Reeves, of Stockton, Barbara Taylor, of Jacksonville, Ore., Kathy Thompson, of Klamath, and Leora DeBacker, of Crescent City. He is also survived by a sister, Hazel Mosby, of Chico, seven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Pete and Hearly Reeves.

Friends and family are invited to a celebration of his life from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday at the home of Bill and Leora DeBacker, 400 Lindsey Lane, Crescent City.

The family requests any memorials be made to a favorite charity. Cremation is under the direction of Redwood Memorial Care of Crescent City.
