ARCATA — The Del Norte High junior varsity football team had a terrific performance on Friday, defeating Arcata 55-6. Head coach Steve Luis said the win was a great morale boost for his squad, which is 3-2-2 for the year. "It was just a great team effort," he said. "The kids were up for it," adding everyone did what needed to be done to gain the win. Shane Endamono rushed for four touchdowns, including a 66-yard run. Austin Carpenter ran a punt return for a touchdown. Luis commended his defense for keeping Arcata contained and his offensive line for playing fundamentally sound. Luis said quarterback Travis Shallbarger did a good job running the offense and ran the ball in for a score. The Warriors next face McKinleyville, who is undefeated in Big 5 play. Luis said his team is excited to face them at home and will be ready to continue the momentum from the Arcata victory.
