Thanksgiving is just around the corner and Roger Bodenstab says while plenty of people have volunteered to pitch in for the annual community dinner, he won’t turn away others who want to help.
“We need help on setup and cleanup,” said Bodenstab, lead pastor at
Crescent City Foursquare Church. “As for serving on that day, we have hundreds of people.”
The annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held noon-2 p.m. Thursday at the Del Norte County Fairgrounds. Sutter Coast Hospital is providing the food and will be cooking the meal.
Bodenstab has been recruiting volunteers. Organizers expect to serve between 600 and 700 people, Bodenstab said.
Since the hospital is providing the feast, donations of food aren’t necessary, Bodenstab said. However folks can donate canned goods, which will go to the local food bank, he said.
Monetary donations also aren’t needed, but would be appreciated. Folks wanting to donate can call the church at 707-464-9501 ext. 260.
