Motorists will again need to find an alternate route around Cooper Avenue this week for a two-day sewer repair project.
Cooper Ave was closed last winter after heavy continued rains caused an underground drain to fail and prevented crews from repairing it for several weeks.
According to city Public Works Director Eric Wier, the recently repaired section of storm drain connects to a drain pipe from the old sewer system, which appears to have fractured during compacting. Replacement will require digging up a small area of the roadway and repaving.
It’s expected the roadway will be closed between J Street and U.S. 101 from 8 a.m. Thursday to 5 p.m. Friday.
Wier said personnel hope to have it fixed and the area repaved in the scheduled two days.
