Firefighters made quick work of a fire Monday night along Elk Valley Road that destroyed a travel trailer.
Crescent City Fire Chief Steve Wakefield said his department arrived in the 600 block about 8:20 p.m. to find the 35-foot trailer fully involved. Though the trailer was parked next to two others, firefighters were able to keep the blaze from spreading.
“There are a few trailers back in there,” Wakefield said. “None of them were occupied; they were all empty.”
Wakefield said the fire also damaged a wood fence on the other side of the trailer but the home behind the fence was undamaged.
He said the fire was knocked down in about 15 minutes, by 16 firefighters. CAL FIRE also responded with personnel and equipment.
Wakefield said he was able to return home by 10 p.m. The fire is one of several this year that have occurred in unoccupied structures around the county.
