With introductions now out of the way, three candidates and two incumbents in the race for Del Norte County are getting down to campaigning.
A public forum sponsored by True North Organizing Network will be held April 26 at Crescent Elk Auditorium, according to a press release from True North.
In District 3, Supervisor and Chair Chris Howard is challenged by Jake Smith of Smith River.
In District 4, three challengers seek to unseat Supervisor Gerry Hemmingsen. They are Dave Mason, Ron Phillips and Roger Daley.
“True North invites the Del Norte community to participate in this public forum, as our District Supervisors make important decisions every day that shape life in Del Norte County,” said the press release. “We will discuss issues such as water and the environment, public education, police accountability, homelessness and mental health, immigrant rights and more.
“The information fair will include tables from our regional Local Organizing Committees, as well as our allies and other organizations.”
The forum starts at 5:45 p.m. and will also include an information fair, refreshments and child care, as well as an English to Spanish translation service.
