Daniel G Gonzalez passed on Friday Sept. 8, 2017 in Crescent City. He was born in Los Altos, Jalisco Mexico on May 21, 1948 and then moved with his family to Klamath in 1964. Soon after, his family moved to Crescent City where he would attend Del Norte High School and then College of the Redwoods in Eureka. Shortly after, he worked at Miller Redwood where Daniel then started his family. After his employment at Miller Redwood he helped open Los Amigos, a small family owned Mexican food restaurant in Brookings. Daniel then spent a brief time working in the lumber industry in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho before coming back home to work in Pelican Bay State Prison in the culinary department as a culinary supervisor.
Daniel loved spending time with his family and was a father figure to many of the youths in his family, being asked to be a Godfather for First Communions and Baptisms alike. His love of sports was a staple of his personality and he shared his knowledge and passion for soccer by being head coach of numerous youth teams and then the head coach of the soccer programs at Del Norte High School and Brookings-Harbor High School. His love of woodworking was evident in all the projects he would constantly be working on in his garage and his love for being outside showed in his landscaping detail. There was hardly ever a time Daniel did not have a pup or two following him around including rides in his truck and on his John Deere.
He is preceded in death by his father Jose Guadalupe and sister Maria Elena. Daniel is survived by his wife Virginia and their three sons: Daniel Jr, Sergio, Adam (Jaime) and granddaughter Topanga.
