Donna passed peacefully and gracefully with her children and long-time friend Dale Duncan by her side on Thursday. She was a longtime Crescent City resident of 64 years. She died the way she wanted to, with grace and dignity, just as she carried herself in life. A loving person and mother, she will be missed by many.
Donna June Briggs was born June 5, 1941 in Williams, Minnesota. She moved to Crescent City in 1953 with her family that included seven brothers and three sisters. She was well liked throughout the community, helping customers at various hardware stores and helping through the Emblem Club. She was a long-time bowler. She bowled for many years on the local womens league. Her bowling shot was very graceful and was an inspiration.
Her heart was amazingly strong, metaphorically and actually. She taught respect and how to do the right thing; lessons that will be remembered and passed down.
Donna is survived by her four loving children; Rob Russell, Vern Russell, Julie Marshall, and TR Sampels. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In lieu of sending flowers, please donate to the local bowling scholarship fund. The scholarship fund is located at Tri Counties Bank and is titled “U.S.B.C.-C.C.B.A.” Tri Counties Bank is located at 936 3rd St., Crescent City. Phone number is 707-464-4145.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Florence Keller Park, 3400 Cunningham Lane, Crescent City, on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 1 p.m., for anyone who wants to share memories..
