T he Wild Rivers disc golf club once again had its bag tags on the line on Thursday at Beachfront Park during its weekly singles games, which are played year round starting at 4 p.m.

Bag tags provide a ranking system for the disc golf club. Each player in the club receives a tag with a ranking number and during weekly rounds club members are encouraged to throw in their tags, which are redistributed at the end of the round with the lowest scores getting the lowest tag numbers. While club members play for tags, anyone is welcome to join to throw a round.

In addition to Thursday singles rounds, the Wild Rivers Disc Golf Club also hosts a weekly random-draw doubles game on Sundays at 9 a.m. open to all comers. In the doubles game, all interested players are thrown into the mix and assigned a random partner. Both partners throw a disc, but the team then plays from the best shot of the two.

The Wild Rivers Disc Golf Club is also starting to gear up for its annual Bangin’ at the Beach tournament, which is scheduled to take place on Aug. 19 in Beachfront Park.

Club President Kevin Mealue said the tournament, which will be in its fourth year this summer, will bump up from a C Tier PDGA Tournament to a B Tier competition. Mealue said one of the main differences in requirements for the jump up to the B Tier is added cash prizes for winners, meaning the club is looking to raise some money by the end of the summer.
