John Welsh Band

The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness presents its second performance of the 35th season at 7:30 p.m. today at Crescent Elk Auditorium, 994 G St. John Welsh Band provides a fun blend of West African and Latin rhythms with reggae and surf rock tunes, matched with onstage energy.

Tickets are $18 general, $15 senior (65 and older) or transitional-aged youth (18-25), and $12 students. These are purchasable online at

Beach Front Studios

Beach Front Studios, 1715 S Pebble Beach Dr., will host their annual sale Friday 3 p.m.-7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Gallery of Arts and Culture

The Gallery of Arts and Culture at 175 H St. will host a reception featuring fused glass artist Nancy Ehorn 4 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Friday as a part of the Downtown Divas’ Live from Downtown First Friday. Some of the work being showcased will include her Christmas ornaments, hanging art and functional pieces with nature and local themes. Curry-Del Norte Orchestra

The 2017 winter concert for the Curry-Del Norte Orchestra will include stunning pieces such as Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” and other holiday favorites the public will be sure to recognize along with selections from John Williams, Antonin Dvorak, and Ralph Vaughn Williams.

The concerts take place 7 p.m. Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church, 94190 5th St. in Gold Beach; 3 p.m. Sunday at Elk Valley Rancheria, 2332 Howland Hill Rd., Crescent City; and 7 p.m. Monday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 1200 Easy St., Brookings.

Art in Public Places

The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness’ Art in Public Places exhibit is the 26th Annual Juried Multimedia Show.

It is available for viewing in the Del Norte County Courthouse, 450 H St., Crescent City through Jan. 18. The courthouse is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays except for state holidays. For more information, call DNACA at 707-464-1336.

Crescent Harbor Gallery

Coast Redwoods Art Association’s Crescent Harbor Gallery December Artist of the Month is Gillian Keir showcasing her oil paintings.

There will be no demo for December. Every Saturday 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. is Paint and Play day for children. Every Sunday 1 p.m.-4 p.m. are paint-ins, offering a space and good company for artists and crafters. Every Monday from 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. provides another chance for people to create in a community setting. For more information, call 707-464-9133.

California Redwoods Art Association

California Redwoods Art Association’s 2nd St. Gallery’s December Artist of the Month is “Smokey” Bill Harper, showcasing his mixed media photography.

The Wild Rivers Community Foundation, 990 Front St., has also hung paintings by Lee Beising and photography by Betty Depee and will be available for viewing through Feb. 1.

Become a member of the gallery and spend Saturday afternoons painting and networking 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Art classes for children take place on Saturday mornings. Join them for a Christmas Open House 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 4-9 with Santa present 2 p.m.-4 p.m and a Christmas party at 5 p.m. on Dec. 9.
