Music in the Redwoods 2017-18 concert season continues with Two on Tap 7 p.m. Jan. 6 at Crescent Elk Auditorium at 994 G St. The season will conclude with Duo Baldo, classical and comical piano and violin 2 p.m. April 22. Arts for Veterans

The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness announces a new workshop as a part of its Arts for Veterans program.

From 1 p.m.-3 p.m. on Saturdays from Jan. 13 through March 3 at the Del Norte Senior Center at 1765 Northcrest Dr., teaching artist Barbara Genovese will hold a Creative Writing Circle for veterans and their families. Registration is required. Additionally, artwork created by students in the Arts for Veterans drawing class, taught by Sara Dee Broderick, will be showcased for the month of December at Wright’s Custom Framing at 810 Chetco Ave., Brookings. Also included in the exhibit will be work created by students at SOCC, CR, and Wright’s. DNACA’s Arts for Veterans program is funded, in part, by the Veterans Initiative in the Arts, a program of the California Arts Council, a state agency. Friends of Music

Brookings Harbor Friends of Music continues their 33rd season Jan. 14 with Zivian Tomkins Duo, a returning favorite now performing with violinist Axel Strauss.

Their upcoming lineup includes: Nordic Voices, an a cappella group from Scandinavia, Feb. 11; The Minetti Quartet, a string ensemble from Austria, Feb. 25; and the Rastrelli Cello Quartet, an outfit dedicated to performing between the genres on April 15.

The season concludes on May 20 with Friends of Music’s annual Scholarship concert, free to all, teaming up with Alexander Tutunov, a professor of piano at Southern Oregon University, to highlight young artists selected as scholarship winners.

All concerts take place at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 102 Park Ave. Brookings. Season tickets for all 7 performances are $100 and individual concert tickets are $20. Art in Public Places

The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness’ Art in Public Places exhibit is the 26th Annual Juried Multimedia Show.

It is available for viewing in the Del Norte County Courthouse, 450 H St., Crescent City, through Jan. 18. The courthouse is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays except for state holidays. For more information, call DNACA at 707-464-1336.

Del Norte High School Dance

The students of Del Norte High School’s dance classes present “Legends Never Die,” a winter dance concert, at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 19-20 in Crescent Elk Auditorium at 994 G St., Crescent City.

Tickets for general admission are $8 pre-sale or $10 at the door, students and senior citizens are $5, children 6-12 are $3, and children 5 and under are free. Tickets are available at Del Norte Office Supply, 240 I St., and at the door.

Crescent Harbor Gallery

Coast Redwoods Art Association’s Crescent Harbor Gallery December Artist of the Month is Gillian Keir showcasing her oil paintings.

There will be no demo for December. A papier mache program, for both kids and adults, is starting at 1 p.m. on Saturdays; bring a round plastic container.

A Valentine Card workshop will be hosted by Cheryl Williams 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 13 for a registration fee of $15.

Every Saturday 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. is Paint and Play day for children. Every Sunday 1 p.m.-4 p.m. are paint-ins, offering a space and good company for artists and crafters.

Every Monday 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. provides another chance for people to create in a community setting. For more information, call 707-464-9133.

California Redwoods Art Association

California Redwoods Art Association’s 2nd St Gallery’s December Artist of the Month is “Smokey” Bill Harper, showcasing his mixed media photography. The Wild Rivers Community Foundation, 990 Front St., has also hung paintings by Lee Beising and photography by Betty Depee and will be available for viewing through Feb. 1. Become a member of the gallery and spend Saturday afternoons painting and networking from 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

Art classes for children take place on Saturday mornings. Local artist Maida Piotrowski will resume oil painting classes 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. on Jan. 6. For more information, call 707-460-1414.
