Arts for Veterans: painting and drum circles
The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness is offering a new course of painting classes taught by Sara Dee Broderick at the Del Norte Senior Center, 1765 Northcrest Dr, 1 p.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays from March 17 through April 21.
We will also host a drum circle with Mombo Hernandez 4 p.m.-5 p.m. March 24 at the Veterans Memorial Hall, 810 H St. Hand drums and percussion instruments will be provided.

"Little Shop of Horrors"
Del Norte High School proudly presents the production “Little Shop of Horrors,” the Broadway and Hollywood classic sci-fi musical about a man-eating plant.
The show includes live music from conductor Dan Sedgwick’s jazz band. Performances take place at Del Norte High in the MPR, 1301 El Dorado St., 7 p.m. March 22-24 and at 2 p.m. March 25.
Admission is $12 for adults and $8 for senior citizens, students, and children. Tickets are available at Del Norte Office Supply, 240 I St., at Cutting Loose Hair Salon, 201 H St., and at the door. Come out to support the final shows for several of Del Norte High’s graduating seniors.
Crescent Harbor Gallery
Coast Redwoods Art Association’s Crescent Harbor Gallery March Artist of the Month is Philip Wadsworth with a collection of his artwork.
March’s demo will be led by Patrick Gillum and Helene Griffith on Clay Masks, Sculpture, and Mermaids at noon on March 22, preceded by a potluck.
A papier maché program, for both kids and adults, takes place 1 p.m. Saturdays; bring a round plastic container.
Every Saturday 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. is Paint and Play day for children.
Every Sunday 1 p.m.-4 p.m. are paint-ins, offering a space and good company for artists and crafters.
Every Monday 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. provides another chance for people to create in a community setting.

Pistol River concert
The Pistol River Concert Association presents Kathryn Claire, violinist, guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, at 8 p.m. April 14 at the Pistol River Friendship Hall, 24252 Carpenterville Road, Pistol River, Oregon.

California Redwoods Art Association
California Redwoods Art Association’s 2nd St Gallery Artist of the Month is Nina Baron, showcasing her multimedia work.
The Gallery will be holding a silent auction through March 31. The gallery is also displaying members’ collections throughout the community.
The Del Norte County Library, 190 Price Mall, will feature Gracia Molloy and Kane Jackson through April. Wild Rivers Community Foundation, 900 Front St., will feature Christie McRiley, Andrea Mastrangelo and Billye Woodford through June.
Become a member of the gallery and spend Saturdays painting and networking 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Art classes for children take place on Saturday mornings.

Manley Art Center and Gallery
The Manley Art Center and Gallery, 433 Oak St., Brookings, will display a collection of recently completed paintings by their March Featured Artist Lee Beising through April 1.
The Gallery is open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Children of all ages are invited to the Center from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays to see work created by member artists and work in the classroom.

Beginning oil painting
Local award-winning artist Arlene Krogstad will teach a three-part beginners’ oil painting workshop, in a paint-along format, 9 a.m-noon April 6, 13, and 20 at Crescent Harbor Gallery, 140 Marine Way.
The cost to participate in all three is $65 and registration is required. Most supplies will be furnished, but participants are asked to bring two small jars with lids. Professional instruction will cover mixing colors, step-by-step approach, and composition.

Friends of Music
Brookings Harbor Friends of Music continues their 33rd season April 15 with the Rastrelli Cello Quartet, an outfit dedicated to performing between the genres.
The season will conclude with the Friends of Music’s annual Scholarship concert May 20, free to all, teaming up with Alexander Tutunov, a professor of piano at Southern Oregon University, to highlight young artists selected as scholarship winners.
All concerts take place at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 102 Park Ave., Brookings. Individual concert tickets are $20. Students under age 18 receive free admission.

Art in Public Places
The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness’ Art in Public Places exhibit showcases paintings created by Arlene Krogstad, a show titled “Kaleidoscope,” and will be available for viewing in the Del Norte County Courthouse, 450 H St., Crescent City, through April 26. The courthouse is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays except for state holidays.
