Beginning oil painting

Local award-winning artist Arlene Krogstad will teach a three-part beginners’ oil painting workshop, in a paint-along format, 9 a.m-noon today, April 13 and April 20 at Crescent Harbor Gallery at 140 Marine Way.

The cost to participate in all three is $65 and registration is required. Most supplies will be furnished but participants are asked to bring two small jars with lids.

Gallery of Arts and Culture

The Gallery of Arts and Culture, 175 H St., will feature a variety of artwork created by Rive Nestor, including oil paintings, ceramics, bronzes, and marble sculptures, for the Downtown Diva’s First Friday event 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m on Friday.

Rive’s fine art has been achieved through her exposure to traditional and contemporary art training and education. Join her with live music, appetizers and beverages for the inaugural show of her new work, having recently moved her studio from San Francisco to Smith River.

Manley Art Center and Gallery

The Manley Art Center and Gallery, 433 Oak St., Brookings, will display a collection of artwork by their April Featured Artist Dave Howell through May 6.

For the Brookings Art Walk 4 p.m.-5 p.m. on April 14 they will present his current work with a travelogue presentation about their journey around the world. The Gallery is open 11 a.m.-4 p.m.Tuesday through Sunday. Children of all ages are invited to the center 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays to see work created by member artists and work in the classroom. Wild Rivers Symphony

Wild Rivers Symphony (formerly known as Curry-Del Norte Orchestra) announces their spring concert which will feature festive classical music from Out of This World.

The orchestra is comprised of more than 50 musicians in our community and directed by Daniel Sedgwick. Friends of Music

Brookings Harbor Friends of Music continues their 33rd season April 15 with the Rastrelli Cello Quartet, an outfit dedicated to performing between the genres.

The season will conclude with the Friends of Music’s annual Scholarship concert May 20, free to all, teaming up with Alexander Tutunov, a professor of piano at Southern Oregon University, to highlight young artists selected as scholarship winners.

All concerts take place at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 102 Park Ave., Brookings.

Arts for Veterans guitar

The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness is hosting a new course of guitar classes with teaching artist Dale Morgan that take place on Tuesdays from April 17 through June 5.

Intermediate class is 5:15 p.m.-6:15 p.m. and beginning class is 6:15 p.m.-7:15 p.m. DNACA’s Arts for Veterans program is funded, in part, by the Veterans in the Arts, a program of the California Arts Council, a state agency.

Duo Baldo concert

Del Norte-Curry Community Concert Association presents the comical and virtuosic violinist Brad Repp and pianist/actor Aldo Gentileschi in Duo Baldo, 3 p.m. April 22 at Crescent Elk Auditorium, 994 G St., Crescent City.

Crescent Harbor Gallery

Coast Redwoods Art Association’s Crescent Harbor Gallery, 140 Marine Way, Artist of the Month for April is Ray Torres with a collection of his acrylic paintings.

April’s demo will be led by Debbie Dawson on watercolors noon April 26, preceded by a potluck.

A papier maché program, for kids and adults, takes place 1 p.m. on Saturdays; bring a round plastic container.

Every Saturday 10:30 a.m.–4 p.m. is Paint and Play day for children.

Every Sunday 1 p.m.-4 p.m. are paint-ins, offering a space and good company for artists and crafters.

The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness’ Art in Public Places exhibit showcases paintings created by Arlene Krogstad, a show titled “Kaleidoscope,” and will be available for viewing in the Del Norte County Courthouse, 450 H St., Crescent City, through April 26. California Redwoods Art Association

California Redwoods Art Association’s 2nd St Gallery, 1228 2nd St., Crescent City, Artist of the Month for April is Pauline Lodolini, showcasing her multimedia work.

Max Hatt / Edda Glass deliver award-winning Jazz Americana and Brazilian Bossa Nova with “an incomparable spook” (Nashville Scene) and “a unique sound” (NPR).
