Crescent Harbor Gallery

Coast Redwoods Art Association’s Crescent Harbor Gallery, 140 Marine Way, Artist of the Month for July is Lynn Parker with a collection of her watercolors.

July’s demo will be led by Philip Wadsworth on clouds in pastel at noon today, preceded by a potluck.

The Gallery will hold a yard sale full of art supplies and other goodies on Saturday. The prospectus for the Gallery’s Annual National Juried Art Show, which will be on display Sept. 1-30 with a reception from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. on Sept. 1, is now available.

Each entry is $20 with a maximum of three per artist and monetary awards will be given. All two-dimensional media is eligible. They are also displaying artwork at the Del Norte County Library; BJ Clausen and Pauline Lodolini will showcases through September. Saturdays at the gallery include a papier maché program at 1 p.m. Mondays from 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. offers a space and good company for artists and crafters. For more information, call 707-464-9133.

Brian Scott Gallery

Artist of the Month for July at Brian Scott Gallery, 515 Chetco Ave., Brookings, is Randy Warren showcasing his spectacular Raku pottery.

The Gallery also welcomes their newest members, Linda Ross with her pottery “Goddesses” and Magda Druzdel with her watercolors.

The Gallery showcases 25 other artists in ongoing events on a monthly basis and hosts Brown Bag Thursday 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. with live music and discussion about artists in history. They invite you to network while enjoying coffee, tea, and an ocean view on their patio.

Arts for Veterans Drum Circle

DNACA’s Arts for Veterans drum circle, led by Mombo Hernandez, will take place in Templeman Grove as a celebration of the Redwood Parks’ 50th anniversary, located off of California 197 on the river side in Hiouchi, 4 p.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday. Hand drums and percussion instruments will be provided.

All activities in DNACA’s Arts for Veterans program are free-of-charge to veterans, active military, and their family members and the veteran need not participate for family members to be eligible. California Redwoods Art Association

California Redwoods Art Association’s 2nd St Gallery, 1228 2nd St., Artist of the Month for July is Bonni Ross with a collection of her paintings.

The Gallery is also displaying members’ collections throughout the community, including: the Del Norte County Library with Ed Reidel; Sutter Coast Hospital with Mario Vaden, Catherine Balck, Richard Wardlaw, William Harper, Bill Sanchez, and Pauline Lodolini; and Wild Rivers Community Foundation with Christie McRiley, Andrea Mastrangelo, and Billye Woodford.

Every Wednesday noon-2 p.m. local artist Carol Long teaches oil painting class at the Gallery.

Spirits in Clay classes for children will be held 10 a.m.-noon Wednesdays, Aug. 8-Aug. 22. These are free of charge thanks to a grant from the Wild Rivers Community Foundation. Registration is required for all classes.

Become a member of the Gallery and spend Saturday painting and networking 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

The prospectus is now available for their Labor Day Juried Art Show, “Past, Present, and Future” as well as their first Juried Teen Art Show, both of which will hang in the Cultural Center 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 1-3.

Each artist may enter up to three original pieces of art and there are three categories: two-dimensional paintings, three-dimensional sculptures, and three-dimensional pottery, jewelry, woodwork, or fabric/textiles. For more information, call 707-460-1414.

Manley Art Center and Gallery

The Manley Art Center and Gallery, 433 Oak St., Brookings, will display a collection of work by Sharon Guy titled “Homage to the Gee’s Bend Quilters,” a multi-media show, through Aug. 28.

She will give a presentation on her inspiration at 4 p.m. Aug. 14 during Brookings Art Walk. The Gallery is open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.

Art in Public Places reception

The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness’ Art in Public Places exhibit is titled “Art by Veterans,” a collection of artwork created by students in DNACA’s Arts for Veterans program, funded, in part, by Veterans in the Arts, a program of the California Arts Council, a state agency.

The exhibit will be up through Aug. 9. The public is invited to a reception 5 p.m.-6 p.m. that evening honoring the artists and will include finger foods and live entertainment from students in Dale Morgan’s Arts for Veterans guitar workshop.

DNACA’s Art in Public Places exhibits are available for viewing in the Del Norte County Courthouse, 450 H St., Crescent City. The courthouse is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays except for state holidays.

DNACA’s 36th Performance Series pre-sale season tickets

The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness will have limited quantities of pre-sale season tickets available before its 2018-19 season lineup is announced on Aug. 13.

Pre-sale season tickets provide not only a discount to the five individual performances, but also to regular season tickets. Just like regular season tickets, they are transferable and will be replaced if lost. They are available in Crescent City at Del Norte Office Supply, 240 I St., and in Brookings at Wright’s Custom Framing, 810 Chetco Ave.

Chetco Pelican Players present “Thumbelina”

This year’s Youth Production by Chetco Pelican Players is an adaptation of the revered tale of “Thumbelina” by Hans Christian Andersen. Performances take place 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 3-4 at 2 p.m. July 29 and Aug. 5 at the Chetco Playhouse, 1240 Chetco Ave., Brookings.
