Gallery of Arts and Culture

The Gallery of Arts and Culture, 175 H St., Crescent City, presents a new show with artist Linda Elesiya Evans featuring her pastel paintings, oil, and mixed media watercolor.

The show will open as a part of the Downtown Divas’ First Friday 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Friday and will include Craig Evans performing on the Gallery’s grand piano as well as refreshments.

California Redwoods Art Association

California Redwoods Art Association’s 2nd St Gallery, 1228 2nd St., Crescent City, will exhibit winners of their Annual Photography Show for the month of October.

The Gallery is also displaying members’ collections throughout the community, including: the Del Norte County Library with Linda Elmore; Sutter Coast Hospital and their Infusion Center with eighteen different artists; and Wild Rivers Community Foundation with Dawn Philips.

Every Wednesday noon-2 p.m. local artist Carol Long teaches oil painting class and 2 p.m.-3 p.m. Jenny Rosa teaches ukulele at the Gallery. Registration is required for all classes.

Become a member of the Gallery and spend Saturday afternoons painting and networking from 1-3. The Juried Photography Show will hang in the Cultural Center at 1001 Front St. from 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Join them for a Winners Reception 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday.

Arts for Veterans

The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness will host a new drawing workshop with Sara Dee Broderick 1 p.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays, Oct. 6 through Nov. 10 at the Del Norte Senior Center, 1765 Northcrest Dr.

All workshops are free-of-charge and families are eligible whether or not the veteran participates. Friends of Music

Brookings Harbor Friends of Music continues their 34th season with Trio con Brio, a piano trio from Denmark, on Sunday.

Other concerts in their series include: American Brass Quintet, founded in 1960 and renowned for their promotion of brass chamber music through education, on Nov. 11; Dashon Burton, bass-baritone vocalist, on Jan. 19; cellist Nicholas Canellakis and pianist-composer Michael Brown on Feb. 10; Thomas Pandolfi, American pianist, on April 7; and the Minguet Quartet, Classical-Romantic strings, on April 28.

The season concludes with their annual Scholarship concert, free to the public, on May 19 with Alexander Tutanov, professor of piano at Southern Oregon University, and will feature the young artists selected as scholarship recipients.

All performances take place at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 102 Park Ave., Brookings, and begin at 3 p.m. Tickets are available at Wright’s Custom Framing (810 Chetco Ave) and at the door. Molly Tuttle

The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness premieres its 36th season at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 at Crescent Elk Auditorium, 994 G St., CRescent City, with Molly Tuttle, an award-winning bluegrass guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter.

Tickets are $18 general, $15 senior (65 and older) or transitional-aged youth (18-25), and $12 students (k-college, full-time). These are available at Del Norte Office Supply, 240 I St., Crescent City, and at Wright’s Custom Framing, 810 Chetco Ave., Brookings, online at www.eventbrite.com, and at the door, which opens at 6:15 p.m. the night of the concert.

Brian Scott Gallery

For the month of October, Brian Scott Gallery, 515 Chetco Ave., Brookings, welcomes three new members: Mary Bandy with her artwork with gourds, Dave Howell with his watercolors, and Magda Druzdel with her watercolors.

Manley Art Center and Gallery

The Manley Art Center and Gallery, 433 Oak St., Brookings, will display a whimsical exhibit by Christine Behrens for the month of October.

The Gallery’s theme for the month is “Light.” The Gallery is open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Children of all ages are invited to the Center from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays to see work created by member artists and work in the classroom.

Crescent Harbor Gallery activities

Coast Redwoods Art Association’s Crescent Harbor Gallery, 140 Marine Way, will display work by their October Artist of the Month, Michael Kozak, with a collection of his acrylic paintings.

October’s demo will be led by Rande Rothman and will take place at noon Oct. 25, preceded by a potluck. They are also displaying artwork at the Del Norte County Library through September with BJ Clausen and at College of the Redwoods through October with various members.

Saturdays at the gallery include a papier maché program at 1 p.m. Mondays from 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. offers a space and good company for artists and crafters. For more information, call 707-464-9133.

DNACA’s 27th annual juried show

The prospectus and entry form are now available for the Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness’ 27th Annual Juried Multimedia Show. The show intake will be from 5:15 p.m.-6 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Del Norte Courthouse, 450 H St.

The exhibit will hang until the reception honoring the artists from 5 p.m.-6 p.m. Jan. 17. Artists who are juried into this show are eligible to be asked to hang a solo show later this year.

Art in Public Places

The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness’ Art in Public Places exhibit is titled “Art Inspired from Animals and Travel” by Pauline Lodolini. It will be on display through Nov. 15. DNACA’s Art in Public Places exhibits are available for viewing in the Del Norte County Courthouse, 450 H St., Crescent City.
