Molly Tuttle

The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness premieres its 36th season 7 p.m. Saturday at Crescent Elk Auditorium, 994 G St., with Molly Tuttle, an award-winning bluegrass guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter.

Tickets are $18 general, $15 senior (65 and older) or transitional-aged youth (18-25), and $12 students (k-college, full-time). These are available at Del Norte Office Supply, 240 I St., Crescent City, and at Wright’s Custom Framing, 810 Chetco Ave., Brookings, online at www.eventbrite.com, and at the door, which opens at 6:15 p.m. the night of the concert.

Season tickets are also still available at these locations, which provide discounted admission to all five performances of the season and are transferable and replaceable if lost. General season tickets are $70, Senior (65+) are $55, Student (k-college full-time) are $45, and Family (2 general and 2 other) are $160. Brookings Art Walk

Downtown Brookings continues its 15th year of Second Saturday Art Walks 3 p.m.-6 p.m. Saturday.

Brian Scott Gallery

For the month of October, Brian Scott Gallery, 515 Chetco Ave., Brookings, welcomes three new members: Mary Bandy with her artwork with gourds, Dave Howell with his watercolors, and Magda Druzdel with her watercolors. Magda is also the featured artist during the Brookings Art Walk , 3 p.m.-6 p.m. Saturday. They invite you to network while enjoying coffee, tea, and an ocean view on their patio. California Redwoods Art Association

California Redwoods Art Association’s 2nd St Gallery, 1228 2nd St., will exhibit winners of their Annual Photography Show for the month of October.

The Gallery is also displaying members’ collections throughout the community, including: the Del Norte County Library with Linda Elmore; Sutter Coast Hospital and their Infusion Center with eighteen different artists; and Wild Rivers Community Foundation with Dawn Philips.

Every Wednesday noon-2 p.m. local artist Carol Long teaches oil painting class and 2 p.m.-3 p.m. Jenny Rosa teaches ukulele at the Gallery.

Registration is required for all classes. Become a member of the Gallery and spend Saturday painting and networking 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

Manley Art Center and Gallery

The Manley Art Center and Gallery, 433 Oak St., Brookings will display a whimsical exhibit by Christine Behrens for the month of October.

The Gallery’s theme for the month is “Light.” The Gallery is open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Children of all ages are invited to the Center from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays to see work created by member artists and work in the classroom. For more information, call 541-469-1807.

Crescent Harbor Gallery

Coast Redwoods Art Association’s Crescent Harbor Gallery, 140 Marine Way, will display work by their October Artist of the Month, Michael Kozak, with a collection of his acrylic paintings.

October’s demo will be led by Rande Rothman and will take place noon Oct. 25, preceded by a potluck. They are also displaying artwork at College of the Redwoods through October with various members.

Saturdays at the gallery include a papier maché program 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

Music in the Redwoods

Music in the Redwoods continues its 2018-19 concert season with Five Sax, an international saxophone quintet at 7 p.m.on Nov. 1.

Upcoming concerts include Frisson Ensemble, a six-piece classical group ranging from Beethoven to Celtic at 7 p.m. on Feb. 4; and Pop! Go the Classics, classical music in a pop format at 7 p.m. on March 8.

Friends of Music

Brookings Harbor Friends of Music continues their 34th season with American Brass Quintet, founded in 1960 and renowned for their promotion of brass chamber music through education, on Nov. 11.

Other concerts in their series include: Dashon Burton, bass-baritone vocalist, on Jan. 19; cellist Nicholas Canellakis and pianist-composer Michael Brown on Feb. 10; Thomas Pandolfi, American pianist, on April 7; and the Minguet Quartet, Classical-Romantic strings, on April 28. The season concludes with their annual Scholarship concert, free to the public, on May 19 with Alexander Tutanov, professor of piano at Southern Oregon University, and will feature the young artists selected as scholarship recipients.

All performances take place at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 102 Park Ave., Brookings, and begin at 3 p.m. Tickets are available at Wright’s Custom Framing (810 Chetco Ave.) and at the door. DNACA’s 27th Annual Juried Multimedia Show

The prospectus and entry form are now available for the Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness’ 27th Annual Juried Multimedia Show.

The show intake will be 5:15 p.m.-6 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Del Norte Courthouse at 450 H St. The exhibit will hang until the reception honoring the artists 5 p.m.-6 p.m. Jan. 17.

Artists who are juried into this show are eligible to be asked to hang a solo show later this year. Art in Public Places

The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness’ Art in Public Places exhibit is titled “Art Inspired from Animals and Travel” by Pauline Lodolini. It will be on display through Nov. 15.
