Arts for Veterans
The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness will host a drum circle with local musician Mombo Hernandez 4 p.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday at the Howonquet Hall at 101 Indian Court, Smith River.
Hand drums and percussion instruments will be provided. All workshops are free-of-charge to veterans, active military, and their family members and families are eligible whether or not the veteran participates.

Brookings Art Walk
Downtown Brookings continues its 15th year of Second Saturday Art Walks 3 p.m.-6 p.m. Saturday. Several locations will host live music, art demonstrations, artist meet-and-greets and signings, and gallery exhibits. For more information, call 541-469-3123.
Brian Scott Gallery
Brian Scott Gallery, 515 Chetco Ave., Brookings, is now featuring the newest artist in the gallery, Mike Noonan, with his intarsia wood carvings of birds and a lighthouse. Brian Gibbons is the Artist of the Month for November and will be showcased during the Brookings Second Saturday Art Walk 3 p.m.-6 p.m. Saturday. All 28 artist members are also on display.

Friends of Music
Brookings Harbor Friends of Music continues their 34th season with American Brass Quintet, founded in 1960 and renowned for their promotion of brass chamber music through education, at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Other concerts in their series include: Dashon Burton, bass-baritone vocalist, on January 19; cellist Nicholas Canellakis and pianist-composer Michael Brown on Feb. 10; Thomas Pandolfi, American pianist, on April 7; and the Minguet Quartet, Classical-Romantic strings, on April 28. The season concludes with their annual Scholarship concert, free to the public, on May 19 with Alexander Tutanov, professor of piano at Southern Oregon University, and will feature the young artists selected as scholarship recipients.
All performances take place at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 102 Park Ave., Brookings, and begin at 3 p.m. Tickets are available at Wright’s Custom Framing, 810 Chetco Ave., Brookings, and at the door. 2nd St Gallery
California Redwoods Art Association’s 2nd St Gallery, 1228 2nd St., will exhibit a collection of multimedia artwork from November’s Artist of the Month, Cynthia Swain.
The Gallery is also displaying members’ collections throughout the community, including: the Del Norte County Library, Sutter Coast Hospital and their Infusion Center, and Wild Rivers Community Foundation.
Every Wednesday noon-2 p.m. local artist Carol Long teaches oil painting class, and from 2 p.m.-3 p.m. Jenny Rosa teaches ukulele at the Gallery.
A free class titled “Cartooning Simplified” will take place 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturdays for six weeks beginning this Saturday. This class is open to students ages 10-18 and is limited to a total of 12 students. Registration is required for all classes. They will host the next Hootenanny singalong 2 p.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Local Author Reading
The Del Norte County Library, 190 Price Mall, Crescent City, invites the public to a reading by local author Vickey Stamps 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Nov. 15. She will read from her new book “Two Cardboard Boxes and a Suitcase: For the Other Victims of Alzheimer’s.”

DNACA’s 27th Annual Juried Show
The prospectus and entry form are now available for the Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness’ 27th Annual Juried Multimedia Show.
The show intake will be 5:15 p.m.-6 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Del Norte Courthouse, 450 H St. The exhibit will hang until the reception honoring the artists 5 p.m.-6 p.m. Jan. 17. Artists who are juried into this show are eligible to be asked to hang a solo show later this year.

Art in Public Places
The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness’ Art in Public Places exhibit is titled “Art Inspired from Animals and Travel” by Pauline Lodolini. It will be on display through Nov. 15.

Flamenco Public Engagement Activity
A free-of-charge public engagement activity will be taught by members of Seffarine, the next performing artists in DNACA’s 36th Season, 1 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Del Norte County Library, 190 Price Mall, Crescent City.
Their program is fun, hands-on, and interactive. Active participation will be encouraged on instruments from foreign regions and in dancing while learning about the history of cross-cultural exchanges. This activity and their concert were made possible thanks to WESTAF, the Western Arts Federation.

The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness continues its 36th season 7 p.m. Nov. 17 at Crescent Elk Auditorium, 994 G St., with Seffarine, a striking blend of flamenco guitar and dance with Moroccan influence.
Tickets are $18 general, $15 senior (65 and older) or transitional-aged youth (18-25), and $12 students (k-college, full-time). These are available at Del Norte Office Supply, 240 I St., Crescent City, Wright’s Custom Framing, 810 Chetco Ave., Brookings, online at www.eventbrite.com, and at the door, which opens at 6:15 p.m. the night of the concert.
Season tickets are also still available at these locations, which provide discounted admission to the remaining four performances of the season and are transferable and replaceable if lost. Crescent Harbor Gallery
Coast Redwoods Art Association’s Crescent Harbor Gallery, 140 Marine Way, will display work by their November Artist of the Month, Eva Marie Tanner Klaas, with a collection of her paintings.

Manley Art Center and Gallery
The Manley Art Center and Gallery, 433 Oak St., Brookings, will display “The Collectors’ Show” from through Dec. 1, showcasing a beautiful and fascinating array of various art displayed by local collectors to encourage the collection of art, fine, primitive, and everything in-between.
