DNACA’s 27th Annual Juried Multimedia Show

The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness’ 27th Annual Juried Multimedia Show will hold intake of artwork 5:15 p.m.-6 p.m. today at the Del Norte Courthouse, 450 H St.

The exhibit will hang until the reception honoring the artists 5 p.m.-6 p.m. Jan. 17. Artists who are juried into this show are eligible to be asked to hang a solo show either at the courthouse or the new airport terminal later this year.

Local author reading

The Del Norte County Library, 190 Price Mall, Crescent City, invites the public to a reading by local author Vickey Stamps 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. today. She will read from her new book “Two Cardboard Boxes and a Suitcase: For the Other Victims of Alzheimer’s.”

Art in Public Places

Today is the last day to view the Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness’ Art in Public Places exhibit titled “Art Inspired from Animals and Travel” by Pauline Lodolini.

The next exhibit will be our 27th Annual Juried Multimedia Show. DNACA’s Art in Public Places exhibits are available for viewing in the Del Norte County Courthouse, 450 H St., Crescent City. The courthouse is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays except for state holidays.

Flamenco public engagement activity

A free public engagement activity will be taught by members of Seffarine, the next performing artists in DNACA’s 36th Season, at 1 p.m. at the Del Norte County Library, 190 Price Mall, Crescent City.

Their program is fun, hands-on, and interactive. Active participation will be encouraged on instruments from foreign regions and in dancing while learning about the history of cross-cultural exchanges. This activity and their concert were made possible thanks to WESTAF, the Western Arts Federation.

Seffarine

The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness continues its 36th season 7 p.m. Saturday at Crescent Elk Auditorium, 994 G St., Crescent City, with Seffarine, a striking blend of flamenco guitar and dance with Moroccan influence.

Tickets are $18 general, $15 senior (65 and older) or transitional-aged youth (18-25), and $12 students (k-college, full-time). These are available at Del Norte Office Supply, 240 I St., Crescent City; Wright’s Custom Framing, 810 Chetco Ave., Brookings; online at www.eventbrite.com; and at the door, which opens at 6:15 p.m. the night of the concert.

Season tickets are also still available at these locations, which provide discounted admission to the remaining four performances of the season and are transferable and replaceable if lost. General season tickets are $70, Senior (65+) are $55, Student (k-college full-time) are $45, and Family (2 general and 2 other) are $160.

Crescent Harbor Gallery

Coast Redwoods Art Association’s Crescent Harbor Gallery, 140 Marine Way, will display work by their November Artist of the Month, Eva Marie Tanner Klaas, with a collection of her paintings.

Saturdays at the gallery include a papier maché program 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Mondays 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. offers a space and good company for artists and crafters.

Manley Art Center and Gallery

The Manley Art Center and Gallery, 433 Oak St., Brookings, will display “The Collectors’ Show” through Dec. 1, showcasing a beautiful and fascinating array of various art displayed by local collectors to encourage the collection of art, fine, primitive, and everything in-between.

The Gallery is open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Children of all ages are invited to the Center 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays to see work created by member artists and work in the classroom.

Wild Rivers Symphony

Wild Rivers Symphony (formerly known as Curry-Del Norte Orchestra) announces their winter concert, which will feature festive classical music.

The orchestra is comprised of more than 50 musicians in our community and directed by Daniel Sedgwick. The concerts take place 7 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Bethany Lutheran Church, 94190 5th St., Gold Beach; 3 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Elk Valley Rancheria, 2332 Howland Hill Road, Crescent City; and 7 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 1200 Easy St., Brookings.

Tickets are $12 at the door and students K-12 receive free admission. North Coast Chorale

Fresh from their tour of Europe, singing in many enviable venues including the Vatican, the North Coast Chorale presents their annual Winter Concert 7 p.m. on Dec. 4-5 at Crescent Elk Auditorium, 994 G St., Crescent City.

2nd St Gallery

California Redwoods Art Association’s 2nd St Gallery, 1228 2nd St., will exhibit a collection of multimedia artwork from November’s Artist of the Month, Cynthia Swain.

The gallery is also displaying members’ collections throughout the community, including the Del Norte County Library, Sutter Coast Hospital and their Infusion Center, and Wild Rivers Community Foundation.

Every Wednesday noon-2 p.m. local artist Carol Long teaches oil painting class and 2 p.m.-3 p.m. Jenny Rosa teaches ukulele at the gallery. Registration is required for all classes.

The gallery will host the next Second Sunday Hootenanny singalong 2 p.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 9. They invite the public to their Holiday Open House 2 p.m.-6 p.m. Dec. 9, including the Second Sunday Hootenanny singalong, refreshments, and a raffle.

Brian Scott Gallery

Brian Scott Gallery, 515 Chetco Ave., Brookings, is now featuring the newest artist in the gallery, Mike Noonan, with his intarsia wood carvings of birds and a lighthouse.

Brian Gibbons is the Artist of the Month for November. All 28 artist members are also on display.

The Gallery of Arts and Culture, 175 H St., is featuring the art of Linda “Elesiya” Evans with her exquisite pastel paintings.
