Coast Redwoods Art Association’s Crescent Harbor Gallery February Artist of the Month is Cheryl Anderson with a collection of her paintings. February’s demo will be led by local artist Rosemary Garcia on a mystery subject in acrylics at noon on Feb. 22, preceded by a potluck. A papier maché program, for both kids and adults, takes place at 1 p.m. on Saturdays; bring a round plastic container. Every Saturday from 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. is Paint and Play day for children. Every Sunday 1 p.m.-4 p.m. are paint-ins, offering a space and good company for artists and crafters. California Redwoods Art Association
California Redwoods Art Association’s 2nd St Gallery’s February Artist of the Month is Nina Baron, showcasing her mixed media artwork. Artist Heather McKinney will be doing a free-of-charge demo on Flowing Art on a Budget at 11 a.m. on Feb. 20 followed by lunch. The gallery is also displaying members’ collections throughout the community. The Del Norte County Library at 1080 Mason Mall will feature Gracia Molloy and Kane Jackson through April. Wild Rivers Community Foundation at 900 Front St., will feature Christie McRiley, Andrea Mastrangelo, and Billye Woodford through June. Become a member of the gallery and spend Saturday afternoons painting and networking from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Art classes for children take place on Saturday mornings. Manley Art Center and Gallery
The Manley Art Center and Gallery will be presenting new works by the Chetco Photography Association at their location at 433 Oak St., Brookings, through March 4. Friends of Music
Brookings Harbor Friends of Music continues their 33rd season on Feb. 25 with The Minetti Quartet, a string ensemble from Austria. Upcoming concerts are the Rastrelli Cello Quartet, an outfit dedicated to performing between the genres, on April 15 an Friends of Music’s annual Scholarship concert on May 20, free to all, teaming up with Alexander Tutunov, a professor of piano at Southern Oregon University, to highlight young artists selected as scholarship winners. All concerts take place at the Seventh Day Adventist Church at 102 Park Ave., Brookings. Individual concert tickets are $20. Students under age 18 receive free admission. Pistol River Concert
The Pistol River Concert Association presents Laura Gibson, a storytelling songwriter, at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Pistol River Friendship Hall at 24252 Carpenterville Road in Pistol River, Oregon. Art in Public Places
The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness’ Art in Public Places exhibit is a collection of photography by Pam Wilcox titled “Shedding Light on God’s Tapestry” and will be available for viewing in the Del Norte County Courthouse at 450 H St., Crescent City, through March 8. Socks in the Frying Pan
The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness presents its fourth performance of the 35th season at 7:30 p.mMarch 14 at Crescent Elk Auditorium at 994 G St. Socks in the Frying Pan, traveling from County Clare, Ireland, provides classic Celtic melodies infused with their personal flair of onstage wit and charm. Tickets are $18 general, $15 senior (65 and older) or transitional-aged youth (18-25), and $12 students (k-college, full-time). Arts for Veterans, Painting and Drum Circles
The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness is offering a new course of painting classes taught by Sara Dee Broderick at the Del Norte Senior Center, 1765 Northcrest Dr., from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays March 17 through April 21. We will also host a drum circle with Mombo Herndanez from 4 p.m.-5 p.m. March 24 at the VFW Hall at 810 H St. Hand drums and percussion instruments will be provided. DNACA’s Arts for Veterans program is funded, in part, by the Veterans Initiative in the Arts, a program of the California Arts Council, a state agency.
