Gallery of Arts and Culture
The Gallery of Arts and Culture at 175 H St. will feature the watercolorist John Hewett for the Downtown Diva’s First Friday event tomorrow from 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Hewett has been recognized by the American Watercolor Society for his exquisite work and will be collaborating with the Gallery and the National and State Parks for a Plein Air Paint Out later this year. Manley Art Center and Gallery
The Manley Art Center and Gallery at 433 Oak St.,Brookings, will be presenting new works by the Chetco Photography Association through March 4. Lee Beising will be March’s Featured Artist with a collection of her recent paintings hanging March 6 through April 1. The Gallery is open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Art in Public Places
The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness’ Art in Public Places exhibit is a collection of photography by Pam Wilcox titled “Shedding Light on God’s Tapestry” and will be available for viewing in the Del Norte County Courthouse at 450 H St.., Crescent City, through March 8. Pistol River Concert
The Pistol River Concert Association presents Molly’s Revenge, an acoustic Celtic band, at 8 p.m. March 10 at the Pistol River Friendship Hall, 24252 Carpenterville Roadin Pistol River, Oregon. California Redwoods Art Association
California Redwoods Art Association’s 2nd St Gallery is holding a silent auction through March 31. The gallery is also displaying members’ collections throughout the community. The Del Norte County Library at 190 Price Mall will feature Gracia Molloy and Kane Jackson through April. Wild Rivers Community Foundation at 900 Front St. will feature Christie McRiley, Andrea Mastrangelo, and Billye Woodford through June. The Gallery will host a Ladies Irish Tea from 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. March 10. Become a member of the gallery and spend Saturday afternoons painting and networking from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Art classes for children take place on Saturday mornings. Socks in the Frying Pan
The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness presents its fourth performance of the 35th season at 7:30 p.m. March 14 at Crescent Elk Auditorium at 994 G St. Socks in the Frying Pan, traveling from County Clare, Ireland, provides classic Celtic melodies infused with their personal flair of onstage wit and charm. Tickets are $18 general, $15 senior (65 and older) or transitional-aged youth (18-25), and $12 students (k-college, full-time). Arts for Veterans: painting and drum circles
The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness is offering a new course of painting classes taught by Sara Dee Broderick at the Del Norte Senior Center 1765 Northcrest Dr. from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays from March 17 through April 21. We will also host a drum circle with Mombo Hernanez from 4 p.m.-5 p.m. March 24 at the VFW Hall at 810 H St. Hand drums and percussion instruments will be provided. DNACA’s Arts for Veterans program is funded, in part, by the Veterans Initiative in the Arts, a program of the California Arts Council, a state agency. Crescent Harbor Gallery activities
Coast Redwoods Art Association’s Crescent Harbor Gallery March Artist of the Month is Philip Wadsworth with a collection of his artwork. March’s demo will be led by a mystery artist on March 22, preceded by a potluck. A papier maché program, for both kids and adults, takes place at 1 p.m. on Saturdays; bring a round plastic container. Every Saturday from 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. is Paint and Play day for children. Every Sunday from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. are paint-ins, offering a space and good company for artists and crafters. Beginning oil painting
Local award-winning artist Arlene Krogstad will teach a three-part beginners’ oil painting workshop, in a paint-along format, from 9 a.m-noon April 6, 13, and 20 at Crescent Harbor Gallery at 140 Marine Way. The cost to participate in all three is $65 and registration is required. Most supplies will be furnished, but participants are asked to bring two small jars with lids.
