After receiving national recognition from the Organic Trade Association this year, the Alexandre family has garnered another award for their role in conserving wild and working lands on the North Coast.

The Alexandres will receive the Northcoast Regional Land Trust’s Visionary Award on Saturday, according to a press release from the nonprofit organization. The Alexandres will be recognized for cultivating a successful business that involves sustainable land management and producing high-quality food for people, according to the press release.

“We have a passion for farming and have cared about the beauty and the health of our land from the beginning,” Blake Alexandre said in a written statement. “Our family supports the Northcoast Regional Land Trust because of the shared commitment to stewardship of working lands in our region.”

Blake and Stephanie Alexandre and their family have operated a dairy in Del Norte County since 1992. They also have 900 cows in Ferndale and 350 cows at a grass-milk only dairy in Eureka.

The Alexandres will receive their award at a celebration of “wild and working landscapes, farms, forests, ranches and watersheds” at the Fortuna River Lodge on Saturday, according to the release.
