National forest and park staff will host a public meeting in Gasquet next week focusing on this year's wildfire season.
Fire management staff for Six Rivers National Forest and Redwood National Park will share the 2019 fire season outlook and discuss how crews tackle blazes to reduce risk to themselves, the public, property, infrastructure, natural and cultural resources, according to a joint press release.
Staff will also provide information about fire-weather.
Created in 2014, the interagency fire organization combines fire management programs for the Six Rivers National Forest and Redwood National Park. The organization protects more than 1.3 million acres of public and private lands in Del Norte, Humboldt, Siskiyou and Trinity counties.
The public meeting is 10 a.m.-noon Thursday at the Gasquet Ranger Station, 10600 U.S. 199 in Gasquet. For more information, call Fire Management Officer Josh Mathiesen at (707) 441-3535 or email firstname.lastname@example.org .
