A claim that a female subject was possibly carrying a gun in the 1000 block of Condor Street caused schools in Crescent City to lock down Tuesday morning, but police say the claim was untrue.
Police Chief Ivan Minsal said a family dispute culminated in a claim by one of the family members that crimes had been committed and the subject might be armed with a handgun in the area. As a precaution, nearby streets were cordoned off and neighboring schools were locked down, he said.
“As soon as we figured it all out, we reopened it all,” Minsal said, about the streets and schools. The call came in at 9:30 a.m. and the issue was resolved by about 10 a.m.
No arrests were made and one family member was transported to the hospital for unrelated issues.
