Crescent City Council has decided to appoint Public Works Director Erik Wier as interim city manager position, according to Interim City Manager Mike Young.
Young said since he is retired, he can legally only work about 960 hours for the City.
“That 960 hours is just about up,” Young said.
Young has been serving as the interim city manager since May 2017.
Young said he felt Wier is a good appointment to the position and public works will have adequate staff to fill in until a permanent city manager can be appointed.
Wier’s contract will be considered for final approval at the Jan. 8 city council meeting.
In the second and last round of applicants, the city council did not feel any applicant had the experience or vision needed to run Crescent City.
However, applications are still being accepted.
Compensation for the chosen applicant ranges from $98,000 to $126,000, with medical, dental, vision, and disability insurance, along with vacation and 80 hours of administrative time off per year.
More details about the position can be found at crescentcity.org or by calling Human Resources Director Sunny Valero at 464-7483.
