Authorities have released the name of the suspect who died of injuries sustained in an officer-involved shooting at 350 E. Madison Ave., Crescent City on Monday.

The Del Norte County sheriff-coroner has identified the suspect as Scott Senior, 38, of Crescent City, California Highway Patrol Officer Brandy Gonzalez said Wednesday.

Gonzalez said she still wasn’t able to release the names of two Del Norte County Sheriff’s deputies who were stabbed during the incident.

On Tuesday, Gonzalez told the Triplicate the deputies were in stable condition and were released from Sutter Coast Hospital.

At 9:33 a.m. Monday a call over the police scanner for shots fired, officers down and a possible stabbing near the corner of Madison Avenue and Northcrest Drive. According to Gonzalez, the deputies were responding to a disturbance between roommates, made contact with one roommate who became hostile.

The suspect sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died in the operating room at Sutter Coast Hospital at about 1 p.m. Monday, Undersheriff Bill Steven told the Triplicate. The suspect's family were notified of his death later that afternoon, Steven said.

The Del Norte County Sheriff's Office has turned the investigation over to the CHP.

According to CHP Cmdr. Larry Depee, the agency's Critical Incident Investigation Team and Multi-discplinary Accident Investigation Team from its Northern Division office in Redding will work on the investigation. The CHP will also work with the Del Norte County District Attorney to conduct a parallel investigation, Depee said.

He said the investigation could take six months to a year to complete.
