A yet unidentified driver died as a result of a three car collision Thursday on U.S. 199 near Cave Junction. According to Oregon State Police, the head-on collision occurred after a southbound Chevy van driven by Joseph Pygman, 46, of Medford, crossed the center line for unknown reasons and collided with a Honda SUV. Pygman was taken by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the report said. The driver of the SUV was flown to a trauma center and pronounced deceased.

A third vehicle, driven by Sang Coa Tran, 37, of Crescent City, hit the rear of the van. Tran was uninjured as a result of the collision.

The name of the deceased driver was withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
