The last of four attempted recall elections is officially dead in the water.
Crescent City Clerk Robin Patch reported the Sept. 6 deadline for submission of signatures to recall Crescent City Mayor Pro Tem Heidi Kime has passed without any contact.
“They’re all officially dead,” said County Clerk Recorder Alissia Northrup on Friday.
Efforts to recall County Supervisors Lori Cowan, Roger Gitlin, and Bob Berkowitz were canceled last month when petitioners failed to produce the signatures necessary to prompt a recall election. The Del Norte Republican Central Committee went on record topposing the recalls, calling them “frivolous.”
With the end of the recalls official, Northrup said she can get back to managing the November election.
Supervisors Chris Howard and Gerry Hemmingsen retained their seats in primary elections and no further county supervisor elections will take place in November.
Incumbent Mayor Blake Inscore has chosen to run again, meaning two Crescent City Council seats will be open.
Challenger candidates are Tony Cervantez and Isaiah Wright. City Council member Darrin Short will not seek re-election in November.
