Several agencies came together on the eve of Christmas Eve in the rain to locate a missing hiker near Klamath. According to Sheriff’s reports, a caller phoned at about 6:10 p.m., on Dec. 23 to say her son was last seen five hours before, hiking in an area near Requa.
With a storm arriving, Del Norte County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue personnel responded to the Requa Trailhead off the Coastal Trail.
“The trail was treacherous in the rain and steep loose terrain,” according to a sheriff’s department Facebook post. “Search and Rescue led a search effort with ground searchers and K9s, assisted by Klamath VFD and the Coast Guard Air Operations into the night and early morning of Christmas Eve.”
The hiker, Dakota Stanley, 26, was located in good health, aside from being cold, wet and tired.
