Del Norte County Sheriff’s detectives say they have yet to notify next of kin and release the name of an adult female subject found dead near her home off South Bank Road on Monday. Search and Rescue was called in the afternoon to assist with the recovery of a body on the 6600 block of South Bank Road, near Fort Dick.
Sheriff’s Cmdr. Bill Steven said investigators are calling the discovery suspicious but have yet to conclude whether her death was caused by natural causes, an accident or foul play.
“Detectives are putting in all the work necessary to make sure their conclusions are accurate,” he said.
No further information was released as of press time.
Steven said investigators also are “zeroing in” on the identity of a male subject found dead in the mouth of the Klamath River Friday afternoon.
Search and Rescue also assisted with the recovery there, which took several hours. He said investigators are comparing information and following leads.
Steven said previously that the discovery did not coincide with any recent missing persons reports from the area.
Investigators have not determined if the death was accidental or intentional.
