College of the Redwoods’ literary magazine is accepting submissions from community members, staff and students.

The Seven Gill Shark Review is accepting original poetry and fiction through noon on March 27, according to a CR press release. People may submit up to two short stories or essays, limited to four pages double spaced, according to the press release.

For community members and students whose work is accepted, first place poems and stories will each receive prizes of $100; second place will receive $25 gift certificates sponsored by Northtown Books, of Arcata and Booklegger Books, of Eureka.

All writers whose work is accepted will considered for the Hobson Award, a $250 prize given to the best entry in any genre that builds bridges between species, religions, cultures, ages or genders. Authors will be invited to read at its college-wide celebration at the Eureka campus in April.
