Pacific Power says an outage affecting about 1,900 customers in and around Crescent City Saturday night was caused by trees falling into power lines.

According to Drew Hanson at Pacific Power, the report was that several trees had fallen into a transmission line during the storm.

He said the call came in at 11:15 p.m. and utility crews arrived and started repairing the downed lines around 1 a.m. By 2 a.m., all customers’ electricity had been restored, he said.

Interim Crescent City Fire and Rescue Chief Bill Gillespie said his department responded to a report of a transformer explosion and outage in the area of King’s Valley Road and U.S. 199 at the same time.
