Sheriff Erik Apperson says that while it’s plausible that investigators have located the body of Emiley Tesch Hughes, 31, of Crescent City, an official disclosure will not occur until a positive identification is made. Emiley was reported missing Feb. 1 by family members, who said she had not been seen since December, Apperson said.

A family member went into Emiley’s home yesterday and deputies entered with a warrant to find a deceased person inside. Emiley’s husband, Edward Hughes IV, is considered a person of interest to investigators, Apperson said. Investigators have not determined the cause to have been homicide, but are investigating it as such at this time, he said.

Apperson said children of the couple are safe and accounted for. Anyone with information about Edward is urged to contact DNSO Detective Gill at 951-7530.

This is a developing story and will be updated as information becomes available.
