Both sides of U.S. 101 are completely blocked by a slide south of Crescent City, according to the California Highway Patrol.
According to the CHP, motorists reported at about 8:50 p.m. that a slide has completely blocked the northbound lane of U.S. 101 about seven and a half miles south of Hamilton Road with the southbound lane barely passable. At about 9:12 p.m., officers were holding traffic near milepost marker 16.5 on U.S. 101 until the slide cleared.
As of 10:19 p.m., CHP reported that boulders were falling onto the roadway and that it was unsafe to clear. Officers were turning southbound traffic around at Hamilton Road.
