The College of the Redwoods Board of Trustees approved a three-year contract with its faculty Tuesday.

The new contract with the College of the Redwoods Faculty Organization includes a clause related to academic freedom, according to a college press release. It ensures that CR students’ right to learn and the faculty’s ability to teach will not be compromised by politics, according to the release.

The contract also includes a three-tiered compensation structure for faculty in lab-based programs as well as incentives to faculty who intend to retire early, according to the release. The new collective bargaining agreement will be in effect from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2022.
