Six high school juniors will compete Saturday for scholarships and the title of 2019 Distinguished Young Woman of Del Norte County.
The oldest and largest national scholarship program for high school girls, Distinguished Young Women has been active in Del Norte County since 1968.
Participants must be a junior in high school and have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average. Participants begin practicing in February and will be judged on their scholastics, fitness, interview, and self-expression skills and talent.
This year's contestants are Zoe McManus, Brooke Winingham, Aliyah Rafalowski, Elsie Swiderski, Karmen Lucatero and Elizabeth Ward.
The Distinguished Young Women program will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at Crescent Elk Middle School, 994 G St., Crescent City.
