A stabbing brought several agencies to Beachfront Park Tuesday afternoon and ended with a homeless man being taken to jail.

Crescent City Police Chief Ivan Minsal said that about 3:55 p.m., an argument between two men camped near the park turned aggressive when one tried to take the other’s glasses. In the resulting scuffle, one was cut with what Minsal called “a rather large knife.”

The victim was treated at Sutter Coast hospital for what police described as a half-inch cut on his forearm.

Officers did a search of the area and located suspect Harvey Wangerin, 45, near the park restrooms. He was arrested and taken to jail and booked for robbery, Minsal said.
