Drum and Percussion Circles

Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness presents Drumming and Percussion Workshops with teaching artist Mombo Hernandez. Workshops will be held July 24 and August 28, at 2 p.m., at the Tolowa Event Center, 350 North Indian Road, Smith River. All workshops are free-of-charge to veterans, active military, and their family members. Family members can participate whether or not the veteran does. “Come Walk with Me” Exhibit

Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness presents the work of artist DéDé Nicholls through October 7, as part of DNACA’s Art in Public Places program. Her exhibit titled “Come Walk with Me,” reflects her tendency to paint paths, as if on a journey. The exhibit is on display at the 2nd floor mezzanine of the CEC Airport at 1650 Dale Rupert Road, Crescent City. The exhibit can be viewed during the airport terminal’s hours: 6 a.m. - 8 p.m. weekdays, 6 - 10 a.m. and 5 - 8 p.m. Saturdays, and 6 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 5 - 8 p.m. Sundays. Veterans Art Show - call for artists

Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness’ 4thannual Veterans Art Exhibit will be held from August 19 - October 7, in the Del Norte County Court House at 450 H St. in Crescent City. Interested artists who are veterans or family members of veterans, should email pictures of their artwork to office@dnaca.net. One piece of art will be chosen per artist. Submissions must be able to hang safely on the wall and already be wired for hanging. Artwork will be screened for inclusion in the exhibit. For information, call 707-464-1336.

 

Crescent City Art

Crescent City Art at 1228 2nd St., Crescent City, is open to the public Wednesday - Saturday from noon - 5 p.m. The gallery’s Artist of the Month is Rodney Reid. Member art exhibits include spray paint artist Spencer Bishop at the Del Norte County Library, watercolor artist Pauline Lodolini at the Smith River Library and an exhibit of various artists at the Sutter Coast Hospital Infusion Center and in the Main Hall at Sutter Coast Hospital. “Colorful Critters of Del Norte County”

Fun Summer activities are easy with the book “Colorful Critters.” Perfect for your summer visitors, the book is made for meditative coloring for adults, and fun for children, with hand drawn illustrations by local artist Rosemary Garcia. Highlighting the “wild side” of our area with local animals, the book includes captions in English, Tolowa, and Yurok, and at the end of the book interesting facts about the featured animals are included. A limited supply of “Colorful Critters” is available at Del Norte Office Supply in Crescent City, Requa Inn at 451 Requa Road, Klamath, and at Wright’s Custom Framing in Brookings. Crescent Harbor Art Gallery  

Crescent Harbor Art Gallery’s Artist of the Month is Debbie Dean. Debbie has worked as an art docent and art teacher before moving to Crescent City, and she has a love for oil painting and painting animal portraits. The Del Norte community at large is invited to become members of Crescent Harbor Art Gallery. The Gallery of Arts & Culture

The Gallery of Arts & Culture at 175 H Street, is featuring the oil paintings of award-winning artist Daniel Desmond. While Dan and his artist wife Marianne Strehler moved to Crescent City several years ago, he has been painting with oils for over 60 years and concentrates mostly on landscapes and seascapes. The gallery is open 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday. Masks will be required inside the gallery at all times.

“Nature’s Magic” Exhibit by Carol Long

Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness presents the work of artist Carol Long. Carol was recently featured in DNACA’s 29th annual Juried Art Exhibition, and her nature-themed exhibit is on display at the Del Norte Courthouse, now through August 19. The courthouse is located at 450 H St. in Crescent City, and is open from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. weekdays, except for state holidays. For information, contact DNACA at 707-464-1336 or office@dnaca.net

Brian Scott Gallery (repeat)

Brian Scott Gallery, located at 515 Chetco Ave. in Brookings, features two artists in July: Sydney Clinton with photographs of flowers and landscapes, and weaver Jane Opiat who hand-weaves ponchos, purses, and scarves. The Gallery also features 30 other artists throughout their ocean-view patio and three floors of art. The Gallery’s summer hours are Tuesday - Thursday, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., and Friday - Saturday, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. For information call 541-412-8687.

Fog and Fine Art Gallery (repeat)

Located in Wright’s Custom Framing and Art Supply, 810 Chetco Ave. Brookings, the Gallery features 36 local artists in a variety of mediums and a classroom to inspire new and seasoned artists with workshops. Featured Artists are students of SWOCC and the Gallery Featured Artist is Michael Dwailabee. Stop by and enjoy all that’s new in the Gallery, open from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Saturday. Manley Art Center and Gallery (repeat)

Manley Art Center and Gallery is located at 433 Oak St. in Brookings. Ceramicist and mixed media artist Linda Ross and painter Horst Wolf are Featured Artists for July at the Manley Art Center. Ross has focused her inspiration on her subject matter’s customs, faces, and dress.  Wolf has dabbled in surrealism, abstracts, and non-representational painting, while at present he is focusing on cartoons with “poetry.” Their complementary show runs from July 4 - July 31.
