Last chance to see “A Scenic Vision” Exhibit

Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness presents the work of artist Jonathan Gaetke. This is the last chance to see the exhibit of oil paintings entitled “A Scenic Vision,” currently on display at the Del Norte Courthouse until April 22. You can also view and purchase Jonathan’s art work online at www.jonathanfineart.com. The courthouse is located at 450 H St. in Crescent City, and is open from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. weekdays, except for state holidays. Beginning Guitar for veterans and their families

Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness presents a course of Beginning Guitar Workshops with teaching artist Dale Morgan. Classes take place Mondays April 5 - May 24 via Zoom from 5 - 6:30 p.m. All workshops are free-of-charge to veterans, active military and their family members. Creative Writing for veterans and their families

Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness presents Creative Writing with teaching artist Billie Ruth Furuichi. Classes take place Tuesdays and Thursdays April 20 - June 10, from 1 - 2 p.m. via Zoom. Each week participants will discuss different writing styles, and share prompts and ideas for students as they create their own works. All levels, including beginners, are welcome. Classes are free-of-charge to veterans, active military and their family members, and family members can participate whether or not the veteran does. Pre-registration is required. “Writing the Natural World” poetry class for beterans and their families

Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness presents “Writing the Natural World” poetry classes with teaching artist and published author Terri Glass. Classes will take place Wednesdays May 5 - June 23, from 5 - 6 p.m. via Zoom. Participants will discuss poetic writing techniques/topics, and create original works. All levels, including beginners, are welcome! Classes are free-of-charge to veterans, active military, and their family members, and family members can participate whether or not the veteran does. “Del Norte Scenes” Exhibit

Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness presents the work of artist Edward Reidel, who recently won First Place in DNACA’s 29th annual Juried Art Exhibition. His exhibit “Del Norte Scenes” is on display at the 2nd floor mezzanine of the CEC Airport at 1650 Dale Rupert Rd, March 5 - June 17 as part of DNACA’s Art in Public Places program. The airport terminal’s regular hours are 6 a.m. - 8 p.m. weekdays, 6 - 10 a.m. and 5 - 8 p.m. Saturdays, and 6 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 5 - 8 p.m. Sundays. Crescent City Art

Crescent City Art at 1228 2nd St., Crescent City, is now open to the public Wednesday - Saturday from noon – 5 p.m. The gallery is offering a Mother’s Day card making class for adults, May 1 at 1 p.m. Cost is $15 per person for supplies to make two pop-up cards. “Colorful Critters of Del Norte County”

Spring activities are easy with the book “Colorful Critters of Del Norte County.” The book is made for meditative coloring and stress reduction for adults, and fun learning for children, with hand drawn illustrations by local artist Rosemary Garcia. Highlighting the “wild side” of Del Norte County with colorful critters, the book includes captions in English, Tolowa, and Yurok, and at the end of the book interesting facts about the featured animals are included. A LIMITED SUPPLY of “Colorful Critters of Del Norte County” is available at the Requa Inn at 451 Requa Road, Klamath, and at Wright’s Custom Framing in Brookings. Crescent Harbor Art Gallery

Crescent Harbor Art Gallery was awarded a grant to provide free one-year memberships to its gallery for Del Norte County artists who are indigenous, black or other people of color. Funding for this award was provided by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act through the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, the California Arts Council, a state agency, and their local partner Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness. Under a separate program, free memberships are also being offered to a limited number of people who don’t qualify for the grant program but who may need financial assistance to become a member. The Del Norte community at large is invited to become members of Crescent Harbor Art Gallery. Gallery of Arts and Culture

The Gallery of Arts & Culture at 175 H St., Crescent City, is now open. Masks and gloves will be required according to the Department of Public Health, until they are certain the virus is abating. The gallery has been sanitized and freshened, and is ready to welcome guests and visitors. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. For more information, call the gallery at 707-464-4745.
