The search for Norbert Anthony (Tony) Danztman has reached day No. 34 after the 89-year-old Crescent City man walked away from a motel in Winter, Wisconsin and disappeared Aug. 30.
Granddaughter Haley Smith of Crescent City set up a Facebook page (Missing Person - Tony Dantzman@bringtonydantzmanhome) to help spread the word of his disappearance and provide a location for updates.
“Tony, who suffers from dementia, was visiting rural Winter, Wisconsin, with his daughter and son-in-law for a family centennial reunion when he walked away from his motel room and disappeared. Search and Rescue canines lost his scent along County Highway W so it may be someone gave him a ride, hence our state- and country-wide search,” Smith wrote on Facebook Sept. 28.
“One very important thing that we've learned through all this is that residents and shelters in Wisconsin have to sign up to receive Silver Alerts,” Smith wrote. “Please, at your earliest convenience, go to the Wisconsin Crime Alert Network site, create an account, and sign up to receive Amber, Silver and Green alerts.”
Word of Danztman is spreading through social media. The Lake Carriers’ Association, hearing that Dantzman was both a former U.S. Marine and a merchant marine, alerted its members Sept. 30 via Twitter to be looking for the missing Crescent City man.
