After over four years serving as the executive director of the Del Norte County Chamber of Commerce, Jeff Parmer has resigned citing health reasons.
In an email last week, Parmer said continuing medical issues prompt his decision. He said it’s suspected that he may have fibromyalgia and other autoimmune diseases but test results remain inconclusive.
Parmer informed staff at the chamber this week.
In a release Wednesday, Chamber President Sydney Clinton announced that Monday was Parmer’s last day.
“Jeff has done a great job serving the chamber, its members, and the community,” she said. “On behalf of the board of directors, staff, and volunteers, we wish him the very best.”
Parmer is originally from New Jersey, making his way to the coast through Grant’s Pass where he worked for the Daily Courier and Oregon Caves National Monument. He also worked for the Del Norte Triplicate in advertising sales.
He replaced former chamber director Gina Zottola in 2013. Parmer was originally hired as the executive director of the visitor’s bureau, a position that was combined with the chamber director’s position six months later.
