An estimated 11.7 grams of cocaine and more than $4,500 in cash were seized and three men were arrested following a recent traffic stop on US 101.

Crescent City Police Chief Ivan Minsal said Del Norte County Sheriff’s units and CCPD’s K9 unit were called to assist California Highway Patrol about 9 p.m. Saturday with a vehicle that had been pulled over for speeding near Elk Valley Road.

When Officer Anthony Lopez and K9 Kai approached the vehicle, the dog alerted officers to the presence of narcotics and the three occupants of the 2016 Jeep were removed from the vehicle, Minsal said.

Officers reported finding 11.7 grams of cocaine, packaged for individual sales and $4,549 in cash.

According to County jail logs, the driver, Javier Perez, 21, of Chula Vista, was arrested for two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sale, transporting of controlled substances, Possession for sales, and transport/sales of a controlled substance. Passenger Jeremiahs Geronimo, 37, of El Cahon, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession for sales and transportation of controlled substances.

According to Undersheriff Bill Steven, the third passenger, Maximo Galimbaperez, 30, of Crescent City, was arrested on two outstanding warrants; for failure to appear in court on a civil case and DUI/ failure to comply with probation terms.

Minsal called the arrest a great team effort between officers, deputies and CHP in handling a complicated situation.
