A short police pursuit through Crescent City ended at Citizen’s Dock Road Saturday night with the arrest of an 18-year old male.

Following a .7 mile pursuit, Tocoo Potter of Redding was arrested by Del Norte County Sheriff’s deputies for driving the wrong way on a highway, reckless driving, selling or transporting marijuana/ hashish, possession of an open container while driving, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana while driving, driving without a license, evading police, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Sheriff Erk Apperson said the pursuit started after it was reported a vehicle went over a grass divider. When deputies attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle sped away, but stopped a short time later.

“He was driving poorly and got scared,” Apperson said. “He started to flee but gave up, which was the right thing to do.”

Apperson said deputies and assisting officers ordered the driver out with guns drawn. The vehicle was searched after a narcotics K9 alerted on the car.

A 16-year-old male was also in the car, Apperson said.

As of Monday, Potter was still being held without bail in county jail.
