The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness will continue its programs for veterans thanks to a grant from the California Arts Council.
The arts council awarded $14,400 to DNACA, according to a press release from the nonprofit. DNACA will use the grant dollars to continue its drum circles, guitar, visual arts and creative writing classes for veterans. The organization will also continue to provide free tickets to its annual performance series, according to the press release.
DNACA is one of about 1,300 programs to receive financial support from the state agency dedicated to fostering accessible arts initiatives, according to a California Arts Council press release.
The Arts Council awarded a total of $24,508,541 in project and operational support grants statewide for the 2018-19 fiscal year, its highest investment statewide since the 2000-01 fiscal year, according to the DNACA press release.
This includes an award of $602,205 to 46 grantees, including DNACA, for its Veterans in the Arts program.
