Teena Marie Capshaw, age 56 was born in Arcata to Jack and Donna McCutcheon. Teena attended school in Hoopa before attending high school in Crescent City. After graduating, she began her work for the school district at Pine Grove Elementary in the library before working at the library at Del Norte High School.
She married the love of her life Earnest (Rowdy) Capshaw on Oct. 24, 1981 and the two were married for 35 years. She began her job as manager of the Del Norte County Library in 2012. She loved her job very much and was proud of what she was able to accomplish. Teena and her husband, Rowdy, loved walking together along the beach collecting agates. They made jewelry and enjoyed fishing together as well.
She leaves behind her parents, Jack and Donna McCutcheon, her brothers Jack (Blanca) McCutcheon of Aloha, Oregon and Gary McCutcheon of Crescent City, her daughter Makayla Capshaw, her son-in-law Austin Uhlmansiek, step grandson Mordecai Uhlmansiek, her beloved granddaughter Hope Uhlmansiek, mother-in-law Peggy (Grady) Wilson, sisters-in-law Pamela (Francisco) Aguilar, Robin (Calvin) Huff, Tracy (Mark) Lawson as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Teena was preceded in death by her husband Earnest (Rowdy) Capshaw, brother Robert James McCutcheon, sister Tauna Jean Gregory, nephew Robert James Gregory and father-in-law Earnest Capshaw Sr.
A memorial will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, Saturday Oct. 29, 2016 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers we ask that a charitable donation be made to either Grace Lutheran Church or the Del Norte Library.
