Robert Edward Frey, 88, of Crescent City died Aug. 5, 2017. “Bob” left this life peacefully with his family at his side after a sudden illness. He was born Jan. 22, 1929 to Albert and Gertrude (Healey) Frey and was the loving and loved husband of Geraldine Ann (Lonergan) Frey. He is survived by Geraldine, children Elizabeth, Christopher, Robert and Frances, sister Virginia “Ginny,” nieces Kathleen and Bernadette, and cousin Joey Healey.

Born and raised in the Bronx, he was a veteran of the Korean War, decorated with the Bronze Star medal. Shortly after his military service he married Geraldine, the love of his life, very best friend, and bride of 64 years. He worked as an electrical and radio technician and draftsman before a long career as a designer with IBM in Poughkeepsie, New York and later in San Jose and Tucson, Arizona. Bob and Geraldine eventually retired in Crescent City, often found arm in arm on a walk at the beach. He enjoyed studying history and how what he had lived through was part of it all.

A more kind-hearted person has not walked the earth. His warm sense of humor was shared with us all. He will be missed so very much as our loving husband, father, brother and friend. As is said, “A volume of facts and love died with him, but all men leave work unfinished.”

As to his wishes, Bob’s remains have been cremated and no formal memorial is planned.
