Robert was born to Victor and Gladys Devoir in Yakima, Washington. He attended grade school and high school there, then went to study at Walla
Walla College where in 1946 he met the future love of this life, Margaret Helen Calkins.

They married on January 23, 1949, living in Portland and Beaverton, Oregon until September of 1971 when they came to Crescent City to outfit and open th convalescent hospital on Marshall Street. They operated the hospital for 10 years and then sold it and moved to Camarillo to run their other convalescent hospital at that time. They both retired in 1993, returning to Crescent City in 1999.

After 63 happy years, Margaret passed away in September of 2012. Robert has left to join her, awaiting reunion with their Lord, and leaving to mourn, their children, son Gary and daughter-in-law Jeannie Devior of San Diego, daughter lInda and son-in-law Brian Ames of Alberta, Canada, son Marc Devoir of Crescent City, son Scott and daughter-in-law Denise, also of Crescent City, and 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Robert’s memorial is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 1, at 2 p.m. at the Crescent City Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1770 Northcrest Dr.
